Hawk v Pigeons

December 29th, 2008 · No Comments

Walking past Bulcote farm buildings this morning, the birds which perch on the roofs of the farm buildings suddenly flew off, looking a bit like flocks of starlings getting ready to roost. But one bird was flying differently from all the others; this was a hawk. For five minutes or so, it tried to isolate a single pigeon, but without success. Finally it gave up and flew away. The pigeons finished their aerial acrobatics, and settled down again, cooing quietly. The sparrows in the hedgerow were also agitated, and continued chattering to one another as we walked past.
