Blackthorn (with Blackbird)

This blackthorn hedge near my home in Bulcote showed a spectacular display of flowers in April 2010. The same month, after a walk in Ploughman Wood, I heard a commotion going on in a blackthorn bush beside the path on my way back to Lambley. A blackbird was struggling deep inside the thorny hedge. Eventually it appeared – with three sloes (blackthorn berries) one behind another in its bill.
