Wood Anemone

This carpet of wood anemones is in Ploughman Wood, a Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust reserve near Nottingham. Along with the bluebells, they flower in the spring before the woodland comes fully into leaf.

Wood anemones are usually white, but other colours occur, as these pink flowers found in one area of Ploughman Wood.
