Wigeon

A large flock of wigeon was grazing on a field near Shelford on Saturday 28th February 2009, perhaps as many as 500 birds. As they were across the River Trent from me, my 300 mm lens was straining to capture any detail. The light was also fading, and the photographs I took when they flew overhead on their way to one of the local ponds equally leave a lot to be desired. However, here are a few, just to give an impression of these beautiful birds.
